What is the NIS-2 Directive?
NIS-2 is the revised version of the EU Directive on the Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS). When does NIS-2 come into effect?
The NIS-2 Directive was adopted in December 2022 and came into effect in January 2023. Member states must transpose the directive into national law by Marc 2025. From this date, affected organizations will be required to meet the new security requirements and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
Who is affected by NIS-2?
NIS-2 applies to essential and important companies in critical infrastructure sectors (as newly defined) such as energy, transport, banking, healthcare, and digital infrastructure.
